Matt has too much fun writing his stories. He takes you places you never expect to go. Just when you get comfortable, he throws something new at you. There are many post "The Gift" stories out there. Heck, I even wrote one ("The Snowstorm"). Most of them focus on Angel's human reaction to Buffy's leap of faith. In this vignette, Matt reminds us that Angel is a vampire, and vampires can mourn love.
